What to Expect Here

I do a lot of different things for different audiences. My agency focuses on a very productized SEO and paid search service for the landscaping and lawn care industry, and my podcast’s audience is other agency owners.

There’s generally not a lot of room for advanced SEO expertise in the services my agency offers, and I’d like to talk to more business owners than just agency owners.

So welcome to the site where I get to do both of these.

Who is Jake Hundley?

 

The answer to that depends on who’s asking.

Professionally, I’m an SEO expert with over 10 years of marketing and SEO experience. I write for publications like Search Engine Land, Search Engine Watch, and Martech.

I’ve built an agency with my business partner that focuses on productized local SEO and paid search ads for landscaping and lawn care businesses.

Our agency and SEO practices in this sector have become so streamlined that nuanced SEO expertise isn’t required much.

So what do I do with all of this expertise?

I give it to you.

This is where I come to sharpen my sword and share what I’ve learned, as well as provide my SEO skillset to businesses and owners that don’t fit the mold of our agency.

ROI-Focused Strategy & Implementation

Edward Sturm and I discussed a principle about SEO on his show where 80% of SEO impact is obtained by only 20% effort. Obviously, the other 20% of impact is obtained by 80% of the effort. I didn’t have a name for this. He calls it “Pareto SEO“.

You shouldn’t be thinking about canonicalization and schema markup if your page structure and H1s don’t even make sense. I tackle the most important things first and save the technical stuff for the end.

Technical, Content, and AI SEO Expertise

A lot of SEOs have a preference for a specific SEO discipline. Web devs overvalue technical SEO. Non-technical people lean into content-driven SEO but lack strategy. And an overwhelming number of people are forgetting the fundamentals and leaning into AI / LLM guesswork.

Whatever the case is, everything works together, but for some industries, audiences, and business goals, what is important in SEO is completely different from one industry to the next.
